We love coleslaw at our house.   It goes so well with meatloaf, roast and potatoes, or just as a snack with a side of cornbread.  You can add so many different things to coleslaw and make it wonderful, but we like this one the best.  It’s simple, easy and fast!

Start out with a beautiful wedge of cabbage.

Grate it into your bowl.  My Mama uses her food processor and it’s so quick!  But, I am lazy and don’t want to wash mine….

Lovely, lovely cabbage.

Add a big dash of salt.

And a lot of black pepper…..

Your favorite mayonnaise.

Mix it well and refrigerate until you are ready to devour it.

  1. I’m just surprised that there isn’t a little bit of sugar mixed with the mayonnaise because I thought cole slaw always had a slightly sweet taste. Your recipe is like mine except for the sugar and a little grated carrot for color. I think cole slaw is an imperative side dish with fried catfish or any kind of seafood, as well as all the ones you mentioned. It’s healthy to eat raw cabbage, folks!

    1. Thank you so much for your comment! I actually do sometimes put a little sugar in mine. If I do, I almost always add some vinegar to balance it out. So to keep my “basic” recipe simple I just didn’t include them. Which is how we make it most of the time. My Mama always adds carrots to hers too and it’s delicious! Cabbage is so, so good! Thanks again.

  2. Lovely, I love a good dollop of coleslaw. i always add carrot to mine and sometimes, if I’m feeling adventurous, I add a handful of raisins too!

  3. Your Coleslaw looks delicious, we will love it! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Full Plate Thursday and sure hope you are having a great week!
