I decided to write this series of posts to show you that you don’t have to break the bank at Christmas time.  There are so many options available to us now.  But as always, shop your local thrift stores first!!  Your wallet will thank you.  And you’ll be surprised at what you will find.

One of the things we have given over the years for a Christmas present is board games.  As a gift they are great because the whole family can use them and enjoy them together.  Denton and I used to play Risk all the time when we first got married.  I miss those days!  I didn’t list it below because it’s over $10.00, but I had to mention it because it’s one of our favorites.  And check this out!  This might have to go into Denton’s stack.

One thing I did want to mention, look first to your local thrift shop.  You would not believe, seriously would not believe how many board games I have seen still in the shrink wrap at my local thrift shops.  If you don’t feel comfortable giving a used gift for a Christmas present, I understand.  I don’t feel that way, because I would not give a gift that actually looked used.  But a present that is still in the shrink wrap?  You bet I do.  In fact, I found a singing Elsa Frozen doll for my niece this year for one of her Christmas presents for $2.00!  I love it when I find the exact right thing, still new in it’s box for a fraction of the price.
