I must have a book at hand to be able to function.  Or a magazine.  Or a shampoo bottle.  Words are nourishment for my mind and are essential to my well-being.  In this space each week I’ll tell you what I’m reading and you can tell me what you’re reading and we’ll all be happy!

Well, as you can see I am very behind.  I have an excuse though!  And we all know how good excuses are.   😐   I have been reading, not as much as I would like, but we have had a houseful of people this summer.  It cuts in on reading time people!  Another good thing about summer ending though – other than summer coming to an end – is that my routine comes back into play and that means more books for me!  Yay.  Here’s what’s been on my nightstand.

FICTION

The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton

You know my love of Michael Crichton books.  I was left feeling….not quite intelligent enough with this book.  Maybe it was the houseful of people and my distractedness, or heck, maybe I’m just not intelligent enough.  The writing and story-line were superb as always, but I just don’t know.

NON-FICTION

Spark Joy by Marie Kondo

I really loved this book.  I went into it with the foreknowledge of the previous book, so I knew what to expect.  It’s a great read and lot’s of good advice if you want to clear out your house that you just feel ho-hum about.  Highly recommend.

Reader’s Digest More Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things

This was an interesting book.  I didn’t read the whole thing – you know, distractions – but what I did read was useful!

COOKBOOKS

Barefoot Contessa by Ina Garten

I bought both of these at my local library and I love them.  I have long loved her show, too bad we don’t have regular TV because I miss her show!  Does anyone know if it’s on any of the big three (at my house that’s Netflix, Hulu and Amazon)  I haven’t looked.  These are beautiful and fun books, you should check them out.

All of this is what was on my nightstand this past week.  What have you been reading?
