My daughter came late to the contact phase of a glasses wearing teen. She still isn’t that crazy about them, but they do have their uses. Such as being on a beach where you need sunglasses in a bad way!
Learning to deliberately poke something into your eyes for the first time can be excruciatingly hard, especially if you are a young teen. Or tween. Or forty three. Hahahahaha!
So we accidentally came upon this trick because my daughter puts stickers on everything. Even now as a sixteen year old. She’s a girl. She still loves stickers!
Put a sticker on their mirror. Have them focus on the sticker. Pop in the contact.
The sticker on the mirror is just to give them something to focus on. I’ve worn contacts for over 25 years now and this was by far the easiest way to show her how to concentrate on something other than her finger coming perilously close to her eyeball.
How did you teach your child to put in contacts?
