I gather our mail – or rather, someone gather’s our mail about once a week.  When the kids are in school, someone usually grabs it on the way into the house.  All bets are off once school lets out though.

Usually, we receive anything important – like bills – online, so it’s not that big of a deal.  We are met each week with happy magazines or freebies that I find that end up in our box.

As I sat down to shred anything with our name and address on it this week though, I found the above letter.  Denton and I laughed incredulously.  The bill was for $1.29.

$1.29!

Apparently, when I sent in the payment it was delayed by a day and they levied a fine on our account.

Warrent-in-Debt for Judgement?  Judicial Sale for delinquent taxes?  For $1.29.  I know that it would have never gotten that far, but still.  I feel like a phone call would have sufficed to get me to cough up the money.  And it would have saved them the postage!
