One of the best things, in my opinion, about yard sales and thrift stores are the books. We love books at our house and we buy a LOT of them throughout the year. But, I don’t want to go broke; ergo, yard sales and thrift stores.
If you are worried that the authors are getting the shaft when you buy a used book, here is an excellent article about buying used versus new. And yes, we still buy new books too. Who doesn’t love stepping into a Barnes and Noble? The smell alone draws me in, just like a library.
October was a great month to pick up books! I found some real gems and can’t wait to dive into them; a couple I already have. Some of the picks were mine, some were Hayden’s and others were Olivia’s. Have fun trying to pick out whose is whose. You can also click on the photo of the books, where you will be able to purchase your own copy of all of the excellent books I found this month.
Here’s what we found:
Mark Twain – The Adventures of Tom SawyerMark Twain – Pudd’nhead WilsonNicholas Sparks – The Best of MeNicholas Sparks – Safe HavenLiane Moriarty – What Alice ForgotDwight D. And now onto the cookbooks. Yes, yes, I know what you are thinking. She does NOT need any more cookbooks. I have even uttered those words myself. But, when you find them for 10 CENTS each, you have to give them a home. Right? Right?!?

Side note:You guys, I just can’t leave the bibles when I find them at the Goodwill Outlet. I have a sneaking suspicion about where all of the items that don’t get snatched up go and I just can’t. I’ll take them to church and leave them in the pews for someone who might not have their own copy.
What books did you pick up in October?

That’s a really good idea about the bibles. I’ve never thought of that. But now, I’ll do the same! Thank you for a great suggestion!
I REALLY enjoy your blog and look forward to visiting every morning with my cup of coffee in hand!
If you ever come to GA for a visit, let me know!
Hi, Tracie! My last comment was partially correct, but I didn’t pay attention when I wrote it. Anyway, on another note, I’m now following you on Twitter. Take care!

Hahahahaha, no problem. Thanks!
I have read some of those! I have the one on Queen Victoria and my mom has the whole Clan of the Cave Bear series.
I love the Clan of the Cave Bear series. I’ve read it repeatedly over the years. I can’t wait to dive into the one about Queen Victoria!
Wow! You made out like a bandit! Thanks for sharing this at Booknificent Thursday on Mommynificent.com!
