What’s for Supper?

What’s for supper at your house this week?

How is everything shaping up in your part of our little world?  It’s still wavering between what we think of as winter and spring here.  I just noticed yesterday that our hedge at the front of the house is greening up nicely!  It will be in bloom soon and everyone at my house will hide inside until the glory is done.  It is SO lovely, but at the same time SO overpowering.  I’ll take pictures and you all can tell me what it is.  We think it’s some variation of jasmine, but it is definitely cold hardy.  I didn’t know jasmine could be cold hardy.

Here’s what we ate for supper last week:

blueberry muffins and bacon

Sunday:

Fend for yourself.  I made a HUGE batch of blueberry muffins again with bacon and decided that that was all I could do for my family in the cooking department for the entire day.

Monday:

Hamburgers.  Always a favorite with everyone.

Tuesday:

Wendy’s for the kids and subway for me and Denton.  Hayden and I went to our local VFW to cast our vote on Super Tuesday and by the time we were through with that we made the decision to grab food on the way home.  Did you vote?  I always vote in every election that I can.  I don’t consider myself a democrat or a republican…..

Wednesday:

Panko fried chicken, baked potatoes, steamed broccoli and bread with butter.  Yum.

Thursday:

I actually started to make soup beans for supper and realized that I didn’t have any pinto beans – AGAIN.  So we made do with roasted veggies and baked chicken nuggets.

Friday:

Saturday:

We had a simple supper of turkey sandwiches with tomatoes, lettuce and mayo and a side of kettle chips.  Easy and good.

That’s it for last week.  I hope you had a great week.  What did you eat last week?  What are you planning to eat this week?  You can see all of my other What’s for supper? plans here.

How is everything going in your neck of the woods?  We had a cold snap, which feels like the only winter we have had.  Denton and his Florida skin is rejoicing.  It’s supposed to be in the 50’s every day this week.  Which is fine by me – SPRING!

Here’s what we ate for supper last week:

Sunday:

Leftovers.  Yay!

Monday:

Baked chicken with baked potatoes, roasted asparagus and toast

Tuesday:

Chicken and yellow rice with corn muffins

Wednesday:

Tuna sandwiches.  We have been on a serious tuna kick lately.

Thursday:

Soup beans with salmon, kraut and weenies, mac and cheese, roasted asparagus, onions, and potatoes.  Yum.

Friday:

Takeout.  The kids and I had pizza from a local mom and pop place that we love.  Since Hayden and I had been into the city we brought home a special request from Denton.  He wanted Thai food and that’s what he got.  He said it was delicious!

Saturday:

Leftover’s again.  Yay!

That’s it for last week.  I hope you had a great week.  What did you eat last week?  What are you planning to eat this week?  You can see all of my other What’s for supper? plans here.

If you follow me on Instagram you will already have seen this photo.  How do you eat your popcorn?  I eat mine one piece of popcorn at a time.  Also, I mix it with some type of chips.  The best snack ever.  How was your week?  Did you cook something delicious?

Here’s what we ate for supper last week:

Sunday:

Whatever you can find.  In the morning I made a quadruple batch of blueberry muffins and bacon.  We ate that for breakfast and lunch.  By the time supper had rolled around, I decided everyone could forage.  I had a bologna and lettuce sandwich.  Yum!

bologna sandwich

Monday:

BBQ pulled chicken on a bun.  This has become a favorite at our house.  I’ll post the recipe soon.  Also, Perfect boiled eggs.  Yum.  With broccoli salad.  This was a great supper.

pulled chicken sandwiches

Tuesday:

Tuna sandwiches.  Denton could eat this every single day.  I love it too.

Wednesday:

Chili and grits.  It’s winter here in Virginia, well what we call winter, and sometimes I just crave food’s like this.  It’s delicious.  And there are always leftovers for lunch.

Thursday:

Chinese!!!  I planned for this this week.  Yay!

Friday:

Hamburgers at my Mama’s.  Woohoo!  We made an impromptu, quick trip home this weekend to see my people.  It’s never long enough, but this one flew by.  Hayden always loves my Mama’s hamburgers and they were as yummy as usual.  She also stands at the stove and makes french fries batch by batch which every loves.  I refuse to do this which is why you always see chips with our burgers!  Cowboy beans rounded it all out and it was so, so good.

Saturday:

Ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, etc.  at my Mama’s.  The BEST.

That’s it for last week.  I hope you had a great week.  What did you eat last week?  What are you planning to eat this week?  You can see all of my other What’s for supper? plans here.

What’s for Supper?

Last week I pulled a couple of things from my giant freezer.  I LOVE that thing.  I still say it was the best present Denton could have ever bought me.  We had a good food week!

Here’s what we ate for supper:

Sunday:

We had to be in the next town over last Sunday, so we had lunch/dinner there.  It was okay.  I told my mama, if I spend close to a week’s worth of groceries I expect the food to be better than just okay.  You know what I mean?  I understand that we are also paying for the ambiance/service/electric bill, and I didn’t have to cook, but.  Example:  Hayden ordered a ribeye, medium.  It came well done.  He didn’t complain, he just won’t.  He did say “I wonder what a steak someone orders well done would have looked like.”  Bleh.

Monday:

“Fried chicken”, mashed potatoes, green beans and homemade biscuits.  This has to be one of the best meals I’ve made this year.  The chicken was so easy.  I hate to stand and fry chicken.  It takes forever, but this was easy. I’ll try to get the recipe up soon.  Also, Denton told me that my biscuits were the best he’s ever eaten in his life.  He said it was the truth.  Huh.  I’ll get that recipe up soon, too.

biscuits, and fried chicken

Tuesday:

Soup beans, salmon, mac and cheese, fried mushrooms.  My comfort food.

Soup Beans

Wednesday:

Chicken wings, raw veggies and ranch.  They were on sale!  I love it when that happens.

Thursday:

Frozen pizza and salad.  I say every time that I make this that I’m not going to do it again.  I think I just need to perfect a quick pizza dough so that I can quickly make that instead.  Sigh.

Friday:

Thick cut pork chops, baked potatoes, roasted onions, Perfect eggs, green beans, stuffing and rolls.  This was an excellent meal, if I do say so myself.

Saturday:

Subway.  Shopping for groceries on a Saturday does me in every. single. time.  I am not good for anything after battling with all of the people who like to stand in the aisle and talk.  On a Saturday.  Go find a porch to sit on people!!  I have the weekly shopping to accomplish.  Gah.  So anyway, we ate Subway.  It was good.

That’s it for last week.  I hope you had a great week.  What did you eat last week?  What are you planning to eat this week?  You can see all of my other What’s for supper? plans here.

Sometimes I feel like i just can’t get my sh*t together.  Do you ever feel this way?  I make a plan, I even write the stupid plan down and hello.  Life happens.  I have found that the key is to keep on traipsing along and things will even out.  I think part of my problem is due to my control freak nature.  I make the plans, things happen and then I want to put the entire plan into a dumpster and set it on fire because things aren’t going my way.  Sounds sort of like a two year old, doesn’t it?  Hahaha.

Also, how vague can a person be?  Anywho, I know you are here to get ideas for your own supper, so lets see what I managed to write down!

Sunday:

Potato soup, bacon, biscuits.  I have started to make my own biscuits again.  This time they are turning out divine.  I’ll give you my secret soon.

Monday:

Taco Pie.  I just crave this sometimes, don’t you?

Tuesday:

Soup beans, salmon, mac and cheese, fried mushrooms.  Just writing all of that out makes me want to fix this for supper tonight.  Yummy.

Wednesday:

Hamburgers.  Easy peasy.  Everyone loves a great burger.

Thursday:

Tuna sandwiches.  Always a top choice when I don’t want to cook.  Yum.

Friday:

Spaghetti and Alfredo with garlic toast.  It was garlic toast this time because I had a loaf of Natures Own Crafted bread from mine and Liv’s last trip into the city.  Use what you have people.  If you only have regular white bread on your counter, slather that with butter and garlic and toast it in the oven.  Anything to keep me out of the store!

Saturday:

Leftovers.  Yay!

What’s for supper at your house?

This past week we spent in sunny Florida – which was unseasonably COLD, visiting with Denton’s parents and jaunting our way around the state.  I don’t think I took one single photo of food the whole week.  I didn’t even think about it.  But, I did take lots of photos of other things and you can see a lot of them on my Instagram.  For now, let’s get on with the food!

Monday – We spent the day bebopping around in the car – Denton’s worst nightmare.  He hates driving and sitting in the car more than anything.  Which is why we fly now.  His Daddy has a passion for driving though, lol.  At supper time we ended up at a restaurant called Lightsey’s in Okeechobee.  They have excellent reviews, but I can tell you that we would skip it next time.  The best thing we had at our table was the hush puppies.  The shrimp was okay, but in my opinion, if you are paying around $30.00 a plate, the food needs to be outstanding and it wasn’t.  I did try gator and turtle.  I would definitely give a pass on turtle, but the gator was surprisingly sweet.  Both were seriously chewy, so no.  Just no.

Tuesday – Denton’s Mama and Daddy made Chili for supper and it was great.

Wednesday – Denton and I went to church with his parents and we ate a Chili’s restaurant afterwords.  It was okay.  I don’t recommend eating supper at 9:00 pm at night, so there was that.

Thursday – On Thursday we met up with a bunch of the family at a bowling alley for supper.  I had no idea that this was a thing.  There was a completely seperate restaurant attached to the place that I would never have known was there.  They had excellent burgers and fries.  The things you learn!

Friday – By this time we had left the family which is always so, so hard and made our way to the coast.  When Denton and I first got married, we spent a week visiting with his Granny and some of his Uncles.  One of the days we spent on Anna Marie Island.  It was a magical place in my mind.  We made a point of taking the kids there this trip.  I have to say, it didn’t live up to my memories.  If you had said to me, “Pick a place on the beach, any place”, this would have made the top three in my head from my memories.  It’s very densely populated now, and the beaches are not what we remembered.  But.  We ate Oma’s pizza for supper that night and oh wow.  It was really, really outstanding.

Saturday – By Saturday night we had worked our way inland towards the airport to spend the night.  Our flight left at 6:00 am Sunday morning which meant we had to be up by 3:30 am to get through security.  We had an early supper at Outback and it was delicious.  Who doesn’t love a bloomin’ onion?

Sunday – Exhaustion had set in by supper time on Sunday and we all voted to eat Wendy’s.

I can tell you that I am completely sick and tired of eating out.  Homemade, yummy comfort food is on my horizon.

Monday – I made what I call puff pastry pizza. It was just okay. If I would just stick to the original recipe it’s awesome. But I was lazy and just made a quick basic pizza and it wasn’t nearly as good as the ones I normally make. Recipe coming soon.

Tuesday – Taco ring. Have you seen the taco ring videos floating around on the internet? I tried one but I adapted it slightly. I need to work on my version before I’ll be happy with it.

Wednesday – Leftovers day! Yay.

Thursday – Shrimp scampi orecchiette pasta. This is a keeper. I’ve made this twice now and it has been devoured with NO leftovers whatsoever. I’ll give you the recipe soon. It is AMAZING.

Friday – Whatever you can find. I had plans to make soup beans, when I discovered that we had no pinto beans. I swear my family is hiding them from me…..

Saturday – Frozen pizza. It was horrible. I don’t know why I bother, I would rather have had tuna. We were packing to go to Denton’s parents so quick and bad it was.

Sunday – We are not in our state! It’s amazing that we can get on a plane and be 800 miles from home in a few hours, isn’t it? Little Ceaser’s pizza for supper.

What’s for Supper?

Hello again!  What’s for Supper at your house this week?

It has turned into spring in our neck of the woods.  Sort of.  What’s the weather like where you are?  We are loving it.  Winter can stay wherever it is in my opinion.

This past week ended up being a good food week!  We didn’t eat out, and I cooked things that people actually ate.  Isn’t that the definition of a good food week?

Here’s what we ate last week:

Sunday:

Lemon garlic chicken with rice, roasted onions and asparagus and rolls.  This was something I made up on the spot and it was yummy.

Monday:

Hamburgers.  Everyone’s favorite.

Tuesday:

I have NO idea.  Not a clue.  We are going to say leftovers and leave it at that.

Wednesday:

Spaghetti and Shrimp Orecchiette.  This was a new to me recipe and IT WAS AMAZING.  I’ll make it again soon and give you the recipe.

Thursday:

Chicken salad sandwiches.  Denton voted for Tuna sandwiches, which is always good, and then I discovered that we had NO tuna.  How is this possible?  I think he’s been secretly eating it and not writing it on the board, which is why he had to eat chicken salad sandwiches.

Friday:

Soup beans.  My happy food.  Yum.

Soup Beans

Saturday:

Pan fried chicken breasts on a bun.  This turned out good.  Everyone ate it, so I call that a win.  Well, except Liv, who doesn’t eat meat, which is normal for her.

That’s it for last week.  I hope you had a great week.  What did you eat last week?  What are you planning to eat this week?  We need to eat something new, but I’m too tired right now to come up with a plan on my own!

What's for supper?

What’s for Supper?

Hello again!  What’s for Supper at your house this week?  I’m trying to sketch out a tentative meal plan each week, so at least that way I’m not standing in my kitchen with the fridge door open at 4:00 PM every day wondering what in the world  I can make for everyone to eat.  That way leads to Wendy’s, or Subway, or our favorite Italian place…..

All of that to say that if I have even a tentative list of things that I have all the ingredients on hand for I can pick and choose from those to make something.  The master plan that I created is coming in very handy at the moment to just glance at.  At least it takes some of the angst out of the planning.

Here’s what we ate last week:

Sunday:

Pork chops, baked potatoes, roasted onions, carrots and broccoli with rolls.

Monday:

Pigs in the blanket and fried potatoes.

Tuesday:

Frozen pizza, salad, and pot pies.  It was one of those kind of days.  Everything anyone wanted from the freezer went into the oven and that was that.  I also made slow cooker little smokies and stuffed mushrooms.  Recipe coming soon.  New Year’s Eve.  Hahaha.

Slow Cooker Little Smokies

Wednesday:

Potato soup, bacon and biscuits.

Thursday:

Leftovers.

Friday:

Liv and I spent the day in the city and when we finally made it home we ordered pizza from Hayden’s favorite takeout place.  It was really good this time.  He loves it every time, but it truly was good this time.

Saturday:

Leftovers.  I love leftovers day.

That’s it for last week.  I hope you had a great week.  What did you eat last week?  What are you planning to eat this week?  We need to eat something new, but I’m too tired right now to come up with a plan on my own, hahaha!

What’s for Supper? 11.18.19

We are starting a brand new week!  So wipe the slate clean and start fresh.  I’m talking to myself, but maybe you needed to have someone tell you that today too.  Life is so hectic; don’t beat yourself up over things that you didn’t get accomplished on your giant TO-DO list.  I’m starting a new list today and will go from here.

One of the things that I love about the Fly Lady cleaning system (which I fail at constantly) is one of her constant sayings:  Progress not perfection.   Whenever I fail at something, see note above, I remind myself of this.

Case in point, I have failed miserably at keeping an account of what we’ve been eating.  Life is hectic.  I’m trying to find better substitute words for the word busy.  Today I like hectic.  We’ll see what I come up with next week.  Let’s see what we ate last week!

Sunday:

Roast beef dinner with all of the trimmings.  I love having this because I know that we get to have the leftovers the next day for supper.  Delicious.

Monday:

Leftover Roast beef on garlic toast.  This is so, so good!

Tuesday:

Taco’s, Quesadillas and chip’s and salsa.  I wanted taco pie, but everyone voted NO.  They wanted straight taco’s.  Which is quicker.  But I have a feeling you will see taco pie on my list next week….

Wednesday:

Hamburgers.  Need something quick?  This is always one of my go-to’s when I need to get food on the table pronto.  Now I just need to restock my freezer with hamburger.

Thursday:

Tuna sandwiches.  I told you it’s been hectic.  We’ve gone into the city twice in the past week.  It makes me feel tired just thinking about it.  Living at the back end of beyond gets tiresome when you need something from Home Depot.  I looked it up, the closest Home Depot to my driveway is 1 hour and 18 minutes away.  One way.  Tuna sandwiches please!

Friday:

Spaghetti and Alfredo with garlic toast.  My wish was for soup beans and to my horror I discovered that I didn’t have any.  How this is possible in my house, I have no idea.  They are on the current grocery list.

Saturday:

Chili with grits.  One of Denton’s favorites.  Actually everyone in my house likes our recipe for chili.  So there is never a complaint when I make it.  I’m the only one who actually eats it with grits though.  Denton’s favorite is with a sleeve of saltine crackers.  Hayden wants tortilla chips and Liv ate hers with plain ramen noodles this time.  To each his own.  Especially when it’s that easy.

That’s it for last week.  I hope you had a great week.  What did you eat last week?  What are you planning to eat this week?  We need to eat something new, but I’m too tired right now to come up with a plan on my own, hahaha!
