The Orlando Eye. Have you seen it? Have you ridden it yet? We went this summer while we were in Florida on vacation. It was really cool! And really, really high! 400 feet in the air high.
We bought our tickets online on the way to the Eye itself. I didn’t want to chance the traffic in Orlando and miss our “flight” time. Florida drivers should all have to take the driving test yearly! Traffic was vicious and that’s saying something coming from me. We lived in Washington, D.C. for two years and you haven’t seen crazy drivers until you live there.
If you purchase your tickets online with your phone, you will completely by-pass the long lines inside to purchase tickets. This saved us at least 45 minutes. You will walk past that line and get right into the line to the actual ride. We paid $20.00 per person.
You’ll have your picture taken (and later they will try to sell you a very overpriced book with said photo – that my goofy husband bought!) and then you will be taken into a theater type room to watch a 4D movie about the Eye. My 17 year old son was NOT a fan. It is very Disney-ish.
Then it’s time to ride!
The capsules (their word) move veeerrrry slowly. But still, when you have a large group of people with a finite amount of time to board this thing it is slightly nerve racking. Or at least it was to this Mama.
They are air conditioned which is lovely in the summer in Florida. The ride lasts for 22 minutes. Which will fly by if you are enjoying yourself. It will draaaagggg by if you are not a fan of heights. Just ask my daughter.
FYI. Florida is very flat!
Time for everyone the stumble off! It is truly a very smooth experience. And we enjoyed it immensely.
Have you ridden an EYE? If so, in Orlando or where? I would love to ride the one in London!
