I LOVE this show. Even Denton likes it. Everything about it is exceptional. Here are some reasons you need to go watch this tonight.
- The cast: They are amazing. We had to skip back repeatedly during the first season to understand what everyone was saying half the time, but they are outstanding. Seriously. All of them are incredible.
- The scenery: You are not going to believe your eyes. I have to go and live here.
- The plot: I had to think for a while to come up with the wording I wanted to use to explain the show. I think measured and quietly gradual are excellent words to use here. The pacing is absolutely perfect. And the relationships that develop throughout the seasons are marvelous. I especially love the affection and rapport between Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez and Duncan. That’s all I’m going to say about that. Go watch the show to see what I mean!
- This show is based on the novels by Ann Cleeves. I didn’t notice this until we were more than half-way through the series. Sigh. Now I get to add these to my ever-growing list of books that need to be read.
Go make the popcorn, get into your comfy at home clothes and block out a few hours of your day and immerse yourself into the world of Shetland. I promise you won’t be sorry.
