I picked up this book for Hayden because it was on his “must read” list. After he was done with it he asked me to read it. With the caveat that I not read the summary they always print on the inside of the front cover. Have you ever actually done that? I mean, gone completely blind into a book, without knowing absolutely anything about it. This one was hard for me.
The entire first third of the book I couldn’t get my brain to shut up. It kept prodding me to figure out what was going on. I couldn’t settle into the book and just enjoy it. I needed to know what was going on! Only I didn’t need to know. I just needed to tell my brain to shut up and read. Which is WAY harder than it sounds. For me, at least.
I don’t want to give anything away in case you’ve never read this book, so I’m going to stop talking about it and just tell you to read the book. There. Wasn’t that helpful?
Giada’s Italy by Giada De Laurentiis
This is another beautiful cookbook that you can read. I always enjoyed watching her cook on Food Network when we had real TV and this cookbook didn’t disappoint, it has some amazing recipes inside.
The photos alone make me want to cook. Chicken thighs roasted in the oven are one of my favorites! The skin gets all crispy and delicious. I can’t wait to try Giada’s version.
And this looks amazing. I love pasta that isn’t spaghetti, so this is going on my list. I may even get Hayden to eat something green with this recipe!
You should definitely pick up a copy of this to flip through, its gorgeous.
Sink Reflections by Marla Cilley – The FlyLady
This is still my current “Purse” book. Have you ever heard of the FlyLady? I have followed her for YEARS. The book is great. It’s full of useful information and great tips. My problem is: I love reading books about cleaning and organizing and I DON’T love actually doing the cleaning and organizing. Sigh. Now I just need to implement everything I’m reading.
