Confine yourself to the present. - Marcus Aurelius

I love Casey Neistat’s vlog on YouTube.  What do you mean you don’t know who Casey Neistat is!?!  I’ll wait right here.  Go look him up on YouTube.

See!  You’re going to love him too.

I don’t agree with him 100% on some things, but hey, Denton and I don’t agree 100% on things either and he is the love of my life.

Anyhoo, Casey announced last week that he’s taking a break from daily vlogging and at the end of that vlog he had this quote.  You know my love of quotes.  This is a great one.

I drive Denton bonkers, because I’m always looking forward to what is going to happen next.  I’m a planner.  I need to prepare myself, whether it’s good, bad or ugly, because I deal better with things when I am prepared.  Control freak much?  Yes, yes I am.

My friends and I have been commenting back and forth for the last little bit on Facebook about our kids.  They all just started college.  Seriously.  We all keep asking ourselves how we have kids in college when we’re only 25.  Hahahahaha!!

But that’s a perfect of example of how I’ve been trying to make myself stay in the present.  In this moment.  Because we’re not going to have a lot of them left with our babies still at home or just a hop, skip and a jump away at the local college.  Make it count.

I read a blog post by Andrea Decker that I think sums it up very well.  You can read her entire article here.  It’s a great article and she has a wonderful blog.  In this post she talks about how you can’t enjoy every moment, so enjoy ONE moment.  And I agree.  Our brains are not computers and can’t catalog every single moment of every single day.  Or at least mine can’t.  But I can pick out one thing each day and memorize how it makes me feel, so that I can take out that memory later and hug it close.

Confine yourself to the present.  I like it.
