Yesterday, I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and came across this photo from Crystal at MoneySavingMom.com.

I absolutely love it.  Because it’s exactly how I feel about my life.  Almost everything in life is a choice.

Almost nine years ago, my husband asked me to move hundreds of miles away from my family and friends.  He was offered a promotion and the opportunity was too good to pass up.

The move really affected me mentally.  I cried for almost a year.  What.a.wimp.  Seriously.  Moving away from family isn’t new to us.  Denton was in the Marines for 8 years.  Four of those years active duty.  We were away from family the entire time.  We moved four times in four years.  The closest we were to any family during that time was right at 6 hours away.

But this time was different.  We had children.  Kids who were attached to their family and friends.  It made it excruciating.  But after we made the transition and bought our house, the kids made new friends.  Lifelong friends that they would never have met if we hadn’t moved here.   So did Denton and I.  Wonderful people.

Yes, I still miss my family and friends.  Sometimes desperately.  But, this move made us stronger together, more so than we ever would have been if we had stayed in place.  I don’t know where God will send us next.  But I do know my reaction will be better this time.

Because everything (mostly) everything in life is a choice.  And I choose to make the most of every single moment we’ve got together.  I choose JOY.
