How to get things done.

I have a confession to make.  If I didn’t use the following system to get things done, my house, car, office, life – sub in just about everything, life in general would be a complete disaster.  Not that it is perfect anyway by any shape or form, insert strange throat clearing sound here.

I would rather sit and read a book than just about anything.  An. Y. Thing.

A few years ago,  I read an article, saw it on tv, heard it on the radio???  I have no idea, about Emmitt Smith. He played football for the Dallas Cowboys in case you live under a rock.  Which is where I live when it comes to football, but my brother is a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys.  Anyway, he said to keep in shape, every time a commercial would come on when he is watching tv, he jumps up and does some type of exercise. Sit-ups, jumping jacks, running in place, etc.

Well now, I thought.

This could work!!!  And it does for me.  No, oh no! Hahahahahahahahaha!  Not the exercise portion! Hahahahahhahahah, if you know me at all, I have been known to go to great lengths to avoid exercise at all costs.  I am trying to reform myself now, but that is another post altogether.

Every time I come to a break in my book (there is always a book!), I get myself up off my sofa and find something to put away, clear out a drawer, find something that needs to go into my donation pile, etc, etc, you get where I’m going with this.

Example – right now I’m reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.  Don’t ask me what I think of it yet, because I haven’t decided.  I am already on chapter 12 and you wouldn’t believe what I have gotten done today.  These chapters are very short and each time I get to a new one, I have gotten up and taken care of something.  Like, the three foot stack of filing I had been putting off for a couple of months.  Done!

This works for me, try and it might work for you too!
