All the Things I NO Longer Need ~ 07.27.18

I am gathering more items that no longer need to reside at our house.  Liv and I dropped all of these items off just before my entire immediate family came for a visit.  Let’s see what went to live at someone else’s house.

I’m letting go of my Michael Crichton books.  I’ve already read them and I know I probably won’t read them again anytime soon, because there are SO MANY BOOKS to read.  I need more hours in my day just to devote to reading.  I also picked up this copy of A Clash of Kings because it looked different from the copy we have in hardback.  Yeah.  This could possibly be why my house is full of things.  Someone else will be very happy to get this one.

I am trying very hard to weed out the things that I truly do NOT need.  This canister set is one of those things.  They’ve been sitting on my counter – empty – so they have to go.  Remember those bowls I sent away last time.  This one escaped, until now.

More candles for the candle making lady.  And a tiny planter.

A lid that doesn’t fit any of my pots.  Three stoneware ramekins bowls that I haven’t used in a year or more.  Three plastic tongs that I don’t use and a vase that I was using to hold my whisks.  I just stuffed my whisks in the drawer with the other utensils because I can’t stand all the stuff on my counters anymore.  This three-piece divided gallon jug with a wooden base.  It’s really cool, but I just don’t use it.  Can you tell from the dust on it?  My newly self-imposed rule is:  If I won’t clean it, it has to go.  It’s going.

Liv is giving up some of her books.  Glory be.

Another to go coffee mug that escaped the last culling.  A kaleidoscope.  A shower ring that I missed when I donated the set last week, hopefully they still have it.  A hair clip.  Spork’s still in the wrappers.  A book I’ve already read.  A wire hanger.  Does your thrift store bundle these and sell them?  Mine does.  A trash can that’s too small.  I am still trying to find the perfect trash can for the kitchen.

Hayden asked me, what was wrong with the old one?  Denton.  Denton is what was wrong with the old one.  It was the perfect size, but he absolutely HATED that thing, because it grabbed onto the trash bags and wouldn’t let go.  So now I’ve been trying out different ones that we already have in the house, and I’ve just about decided that I’m going to have to give in and just go buy one.

A book and more magazines……

When was the last time you wore panty hose?  I think it was 1989 for me.  The same for my hot rollers.

Another one of those bowls!  I tell you they are breeding in the dark.  A taco holder that Denton used one time.  My 24 holder for cupcakes.  It’s been in my laundry room for the past year, so I think it’s safe to send away now.

Things that are collecting dust in my house.  If I won’t clean them, they can’t stay.  I have no idea why we have so many litter boxes.  I found two more in the garage yesterday!

Random things Liv brought me that were hiding in a drawer in her bathroom.

Liv went through her old glasses.  They assured me that they will get where they need to go, so that someone somewhere can have a pair of glasses if they need them.

I am still replacing our old luggage.  There is nothing wrong with this suitcase, but it isn’t the best at rolling along.  We have a trip planned this winter and I definitely do not want to have rolling luggage mishaps in the airports.  And I think that was it for this trip!

What have you hauled away recently?

  1. I like this decluttering post because it isn’t preaching about what I should be throwing away. It is showing me what YOU’RE getting rid of and how you’re doing it. It seems more motivating to me to see someone who is actually trying to make a dent in clutter they have, not in clutter that they think I may have! Thanks for the motivation!
