Every way that I can keep a dollar in my pocket is a good thing. (Thank you Martha!)  Here are five ways that I do that every.single.week.!

kroger bags

  • Trash bags. I don’t buy them.  I use the bags I bring home groceries in.  Yes, I know I should be taking my reusable bags to the store to bring home my groceries, but they live in my pantry.  Forgotten.  But, even if you do remember to bring your reusable bags with you to the grocery store ask the cashier to put your meat and milk in plastic bags before you load them up and there you are.

  • Sandwich baggies. I don’t buy these either.  I pack the kids sandwiches in these.

  • Keurig reusable pods. I bought these when I bought my Keurig at the goodwill (for $3.99 woo-hoo!) and I’ve never bought the throwaway kind.  Yes, you have to rinse them and I run them through the dishwasher once a week, but its not that hard!  Mine are kind of like these.

  • Litter box bags. See number one!  Each week I line the small trash can next to each litter box with at least 7 bags, that way it’s easy peasy and all I have to do is scoop, tie and take it out to the garbage cans.
  • Menu plan with the sales. Every week before I go to the grocery store, I sit down at my computer and pull up the sales ad’s for my two closest grocery stores.  For me it’s Food Lion and Kroger.  Then I click on anything that we need that week that’s an awesome deal and I compare each store.  I hate grocery shopping.  So I choose the store with the best deals for my family that week and I’m off.

Lest you believe that I know everything! HaHaHa!  There are still some things that I buy to make my life easier that I really should get rid of.  Paper towel and napkins.  My husband can’t live without them.  And honestly neither can I.  What do you drain your bacon on?!?  I tried using some of my old cloth napkins and I. JUST. CAN’T!

What did you save money on this week?
