Only at our house, can you be attacked by a BEAR on a motorcycle.

My husband loves his motorcycles. I mean loves, loves, loves them.  When he’s not spending his free time with us, he’s out on his bike.  He started out with with a Honda CB750.  Then he bought a Harley Iron 883, and now he has a Yamaha FZ-09.

He’s had this bike for two weeks.  He went out this afternoon last Thursday, (life happened and I didn’t get this published until today!) for his daily ride and he was back home in less than an hour.  I knew as soon as he pulled into the driveway that something had happened.

He was following a pickup truck on one of our two lane windy roads at about 45 miles an hour.  He said that he saw the bear run out in front of the truck.  That guy didn’t even have time to slow down before he had run completely over the bear.

Denton said, I switched lanes because I just knew that bear was dead.  And as he switched lanes, the bear leaped up and charged right at him with its mouth wide open.

Denton said, he reacted by sticking his leg straight out and kicked him in the nose.  The bear reacted by clamping his teeth down on the first thing it could latch onto, which happened to be the gas tank of the motorcycle, inches from his leg; turned and ran off into the woods.  All of this happened in mere moments.

Thank you Jesus, that it WASN’T his leg.  As my husband is explaining this to me, he’s standing there completely soaked in gasoline. Giddy as can be.  Grinning his face off.  Not in a Holy Cow I Almost Died way.  A THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR kind of way.  Having the time of his life.  He’s like that.  The scarier things in life are to me, the better he is loving it.

I told him that he has to immediately buy a GoPro, because NO ONE is ever going to believe this.  A little too late!

One of my cousin’s said,  “Go buy a lottery ticket!”  Yes, yes I believe that we will.

P.S.  When we contacted the motorcycle shop to tell them about what had happened and to set up a time to take the motorcycle in to be repaired the guy said “You won’t believe this, but you are the second person to call and tell us they were attacked by a bear on their bike this week!  Unfortunately for the other guy, he didn’t keep his motorcycle upright.”  Be careful out there, there are bears just waiting to pounce on you.  Apparently.
