Cobra Kai.  Have you seen it?

I don’t think that we have watched one single movie since the beginning of the year at our house.  We have however watched quite a few shows and I thought that you might need some recommendations by this point in all of our lives. 😐

If you’ve seen the Karate Kid movies from the 80’s you will know these characters well.  Or think you do.  I resisted watching this initially.  Denton had already binged both seasons that are available as I write this and he asked me to watch it with him.  I wanted nothing to do with it.  My reading time, along with what time I’m willing to give up for TV time is VERY valuable to me and I’m very, very selective in what I’m willing to sit through.

He asked me to watch the first episode and if I didn’t like it he wouldn’t ask me again.  So I capitulated and wow.  WOW.  I was hooked.  This show picks up more than 30 years after the original Karate Kid ended.  You would think that the draw for me would be Daniel LaRusso, The Karate Kid, right?  Nope.  This show drew me in from the first three minutes around Johnny.  And Johnny is the reason that I have kept watching it episode after episode.

I can apply a lot of my adjectives to this show to give you an idea of what you are in for:  excellent, corny, hilarious, satisfying, melodramatic – it has teenagers in it, entertaining, and sentimental in each episode.  I think you should go watch the first episode and let me know what you think!

I can’t wait to see what happens in season three.

You can watch it on Netflix, Amazon or YouTube.

TV Time: Travelers

Travelers.  Have you seen it?

You by now know my love of science fiction; I blame it on how much Quantum Leap I watched as a teenager.

If you aren’t into SciFi, I would still highly recommend this show to you simply to watch the cast.  They are amazing.  The storylines of each of the characters is separate but intertwined in such a way that it hooked me from the very first episode.   We loved it.

Since I am not one to remake the wheel, I’ve put the premise below from Wikipedia:

Premise

In a post-apocalyptic future, thousands of special operatives are tasked with preventing the collapse of society. These operatives, known as “travelers”, have their consciousnesses sent back in time and transferred into the “host” body of present-day individuals who would otherwise be moments from death, to minimize unexpected impact on the time line. The transfer requires the exact location of the target, made possible by 21st century smartphones and GPS, providing time, elevation, latitude, and longitude (TELL) coordinates that are archived for use in the future.  via

I find shows like this fascinating.  Can you imagine being sent back in time into a persons body who was going to die and having to continue their life, also while trying to save the world?  It’s an excellent show, with an outstanding cast of characters.  You should check it out.

There are three seasons on Netflix.  Now your weekend is set!
